Urban acrobats get kick out of Parisian suburbs
By Kerstin Gehmlich
Swissinfo
PARIS (Reuters) - Raimundo Querido sprinted up three flights of stairs, scaled a wall as tall as himself, and somersaulted off a roof into a flower bed.
The scene did not take place during last year's riots in Paris' poor suburbs, when youths angry about racism and unemployment set thousands of cars ablaze and police chased them through a concrete maze of high-rise buildings.
It's just what Querido, 25, does on a Sunday afternoon.
"Most people see the suburbs and say 'How ugly -- concrete, concrete, concrete'. I look at it and think: 'Great! You can climb up here, jump off there'," says Querido, who wears a suit and a tie for his day-time job in a bank.
Querido is an "urban acrobat" who spends all his free time on Parkour -- "the art of moving" which was made popular by Frenchman David Belle some 15 years ago and has become a widely practised extreme sport in urban settings worldwide. |

| New Website! |
Posted by theButton / Monday, March 20, 2006 (21:33:10) / (727 reads)

Welcome! Some of you are wondering what this new colour scheme is all about, whereas others of you will have read the email and know that it's not just a theme - it's a whole new website!
Chris (minion) and others have spent many hours putting this together but it's finally here. Improving upon the old site in almost every way, it promises to be bigger, better and faster then ever before.
For a start, we've invested in new hosting, so we have more space and much more bandwidth - which can only mean one thing. MORE VIDEOS! Which I'm sure everyone will be chuffed about.
It's also much easier to use this site - if you've got a video or file, you simply need to click on the 'submit download' button to your left, fill out the forms, and then hit 'submit'. Simply wait for a moderator to approve it, and then it will be hosted for you! Fantastic!
Most, in fact almost all features of this site are that easy to use. Just use the menu on the left to submit an article, some news, or just some photos, then pending approval it will go up!
We've got a couple of innovations which you didn't see on the old site. The first is the Hotspot Map. Zoom in on a particular city, click on one of the icons and a balloon will pop up giving you information on where that hotspot is and a link to a more in depth hotspot review. You'll also be able to find traceurs in your area if they submit their information to the map.
We're also able to offer (for the first time) a few tutorials. Although not a complete list yet, this is where you come in again - this is a site by the community, for the community, and so if you have any good quality tutorials please feel free to email them in to webmaster@scpk.info
Also, SCPK is now available in not one but TWO new flavours, for those of you who like a bit of variety in their life. Simply go to 'My Account' > My Preferences and select your theme.
Ok, one last thing before you all rush off and start having fun: please please please take the time to read our Disclaimer & User Agreement. They've changed from the old site and you MUST read them and agree to all of the terms before using this website.
Ok, legal stuff out the way, welcome to the new site! We hope you enjoy using it as much as we (by we I mean minion) enjoyed making it! |

| Jump Bahrain Note |

FIA president Max Mosley particularly enjoyed, and a display of the Parkour 'free-runners' from Jump Bahrain as part of their three-day marathon around the Kingdom. Three Jump Bahrain performers - Daniel Ilabaca, Chase Armitage and Jerome Ben Aoues - set the Manama capital on its ear on Friday, crossing the ancient Bahrain Fort, the Al Ali and Seef Malls and also the historic former government offices of the Bab al Bahrain. Parkour means ‘crossing urban landscapes in the most spectacular and least conventional ways possible, relying on nothing more than the agility and bravery of the 'free-runners' as they leap from rooftops and flip over obstacles’.

On The Set Of Casino Royale
Moviefone Video: Interviews with Craig, Green, Murino, and Foucan
Written by Devin Zydel (14 Mar, 2006, 10:00)
Following up the recent reports by Extra TV, Entertainment Tonight, the BBC, and other news sources, comes this new Casino Royale set visit video from Moviefone.
The video opens up with an interview with new James Bond Daniel Craig talking about the new film and his role. 'We're given a bit more sway with it, because we're telling a story (Casino Royale) from the beginning,' says Craig. Bond girl Eva Green (Vesper Lynd) is also interviewed, as she throws in her support for the new Bond. Saying that she'll be shooting her first scenes in a week, Green explains how the character of Vesper is an 'enigma' and different from many of the other Bond girls. Catarino Murino, who plays Solonge, also backs the new 007, saying 'you will be a great Bond... [he's] not only a lover... he can be very rude.' Unlike Green, who has yet to begin filming, Murino only has one scene left to be filmed--which entails her riding on the horse she has previously been seen with in shots from the film.
The video also includes a short scene from the new film between James Bond and Judi Dench's M in the Bahamas. Additionally, Sebastien Foucan (Mollaka) explains how Parkour, an art of free-running, will be an essential part of his performance in a chase scene, saying, 'free-running is about composing with a particular environment.'
