Pisteurs 'Special Pie' Available for Download
Posted by thebutton / Wednesday, April 19, 2006 (12:23:33) / (440 reads) SCPK News

Since the new site launched we've enjoyed the benifits of new hosting, and so we're able to not just host our members videos, but also offer you more widely reknowned videos from around the world, so that we may all learn from how the more experienced traceurs move.

The fourth video to be featured is 'Special Pie', by a group of French traceurs based in Paris:

Pistuers - Special Pie

This video was chosen primarily because these guys choose routes which lead to a lot of technical rail work, and so anyone who's struggling with these techniques can use this video for help. It's also supremely well edited and has an awesome sound track, and shows some great all round parkour as well, not just the intricate stuff.

DimMonk Video Available for Download

The third video to be featured is 'Summer 2005', by a Canadian traceur who goes by the name of DimMonk:

DimMonk Summer 2005

This video has been chosen not because it shows unbelievable skill at fantastic speed, but simply because it contains solid parkour at a constant pace. Nothing gets in this traceurs way, he doesn't falter in his step and simply gets past every obstacle without breaking his stride. A great base standard of parkour for everyone to aim for.

Generation Yamakasi available to download
Posted by thebutton / Monday, March 27, 2006 (14:42:15) / (8507 reads) SCPK News

Since the new site launched we've enjoyed the benifits of new hosting, and so we're able to not just host our members videos, but also offer you more widely reknowned videos from around the world, so that we may all learn from how the more experienced traceurs move.

The second video to be featured is Generation Yamakasi, a French documentary with subtitles:

http://www.scpk.info/Downloads/details/id=8.html

This time it's not about Parkour, but the similar art of Yamakasi. It's great stuff, the interviews are awesome and it's well worth the download. Lasting just over an hour, it manages to fit everything in from the history, training as children, how it developed, the philosphy, the training, newbies, and more than a little action too.

A fantastic representation & media piece, nothing's left out and it's all done in depth. The director obviously took his time to explore the art of Yamakasi properly and in doing so makes the 'Jump' series look amateur in comparison. Another essential video for anyone wishing to explore parkour in depth, I recommend this to everyone regardless of the fact it's about a different art.

New Website!
Posted by theButton / Monday, March 20, 2006 (22:33:10) / (749 reads) SCPK News

Welcome! Some of you are wondering what this new colour scheme is all about, whereas others of you will have read the email and know that it's not just a theme - it's a whole new website!

Chris (minion) and others have spent many hours putting this together but it's finally here. Improving upon the old site in almost every way, it promises to be bigger, better and faster then ever before.

For a start, we've invested in new hosting, so we have more space and much more bandwidth - which can only mean one thing. MORE VIDEOS! Which I'm sure everyone will be chuffed about. Wink

It's also much easier to use this site - if you've got a video or file, you simply need to click on the 'submit download' button to your left, fill out the forms, and then hit 'submit'. Simply wait for a moderator to approve it, and then it will be hosted for you! Fantastic! Laughing

Most, in fact almost all features of this site are that easy to use. Just use the menu on the left to submit an article, some news, or just some photos, then pending approval it will go up!

We've got a couple of innovations which you didn't see on the old site. The first is the Hotspot Map. Zoom in on a particular city, click on one of the icons and a balloon will pop up giving you information on where that hotspot is and a link to a more in depth hotspot review. You'll also be able to find traceurs in your area if they submit their information to the map.

We're also able to offer (for the first time) a few tutorials. Although not a complete list yet, this is where you come in again - this is a site by the community, for the community, and so if you have any good quality tutorials please feel free to email them in to webmaster@scpk.info

Also, SCPK is now available in not one but TWO new flavours, for those of you who like a bit of variety in their life. Simply go to 'My Account' > My Preferences and select your theme.

Ok, one last thing before you all rush off and start having fun: please please please take the time to read our Disclaimer & User Agreement. They've changed from the old site and you MUST read them and agree to all of the terms before using this website.

Ok, legal stuff out the way, welcome to the new site! We hope you enjoy using it as much as we (by we I mean minion) enjoyed making it! Laughing Laughing Razz
